From October 28 to 31, as part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to the three nations of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung conducted meetings with regulatory agencies and businesses. These discussions laid the groundwork for expanding cooperative programs.
During the meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, the two ministers discussed development strategies and priorities for enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The ministers agreed to prioritize collaboration in developing data center infrastructure, cloud computing, and facilitating joint investments by enterprises from both countries in building and leveraging telecommunications infrastructure. They also focused on digital transformation projects in Vietnam and Qatar, with potential expansion to other Middle Eastern countries.
Earlier, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung delivered the concluding speech at the Vietnam-UAE Business Forum.
The forum saw the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, leaders of various Vietnamese ministries, and UAE government representatives, as well as businesses from both nations.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung commended the proactive and innovative approaches of Vietnamese enterprises in accessing, promoting investment, and expanding their market presence in the Middle East.
Amid the growth of political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Middle East, Vietnamese businesses, including those in digital technology, have significant opportunities to tap into this promising market.
During his program in the UAE, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung held discussions with the CEO and senior executives of Sirius Group. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group, also attended the meeting.
With substantial financial resources and the ability to attract top global technology partners, Sirius is advancing digital transformation projects, especially in financial services, corporate restructuring, operational optimization, and global data center infrastructure development.
The two sides discussed priorities for cooperation and explored the possibility of implementing specific projects to promote in the near future.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung’s meetings, combined with the success of the Prime Minister’s official visit to the three Middle Eastern countries, have laid the foundation for establishing and expanding partnerships with agencies and businesses in the region.
This creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese digital technology enterprises to enter this potential market, contributing to more practical and effective information and communication cooperation between Vietnam and the Middle East.
