The two sides discussed implementation plans for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the South Korean President's visit to Viet Nam in April 2026, aimed at enhancing the management, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property assets.

Discussions focused on South Korea’s expertise in developing its IP finance market - which reached approximately USD 9.3 billion in 2025 - as well as the sharing of databases to support IP examination, searching, and policy formulation.

Overview of the working session
The two authorities also exchanged views on local specialized product development programs, wherein intellectual property is leveraged to build brand identity, control quality, elevate economic value, and expand market presence. Viet Nam can draw on this model to develop local specialties - such as Ca Mau Crab, a product already protected by a geographical indication - integrated with origin traceability and sustainable value chains./.
