Viet Nam promotes cooperation with Russia in AI, quantum technology, and low-Earth orbit satellites
<p style="text-align: justify;">Viet Nam has proposed expanding cooperation with Russia in strategic technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, space technology, and low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.</p>
Overview of the working session
On the sidelines of the Forum commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Relations in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan held a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. During the meeting, the Minister suggested that both sides continue to effectively leverage traditional areas of cooperation, while expanding partnership into pioneering, emerging technologies to enhance the science, technology, and innovation capacity of each country. Specifically:
- First, making AI, quantum technology, space technology, and low-Earth orbit satellites new priority areas for cooperation.
- Second, increasing the number of joint research projects co-funded by both nations.
- Third, strengthening connections among young scientists, research institutes, and universities from both sides; boosting training cooperation, academic exchanges, and exploring mechanisms and policies to support young researchers in participating in Viet Nam-Russia scientific and technological cooperation programs.
Viet Nam will also dispatch a delegation to attend the Viet Nam-Russia Young Scientists Conference, in conjunction with the upcoming session of the Sub-Committee on Cooperation in Education, Science, and Technology in Russia, Minister Vu Hai Quan added.
