Viet Nam - France aim for deep, strategic tech cooperation

On August 28, 2026, Minister Vu Hai Quan received Mr. Olivier Brochet, French Ambassador to Viet Nam. The Ambassador came to pay a farewell call at the end of his term of office in Viet Nam.

Minister Vu Hai Quan acknowledged and highly valued the active efforts and contributions of Ambassador Olivier Brochet throughout his tenure, which brought bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation into greater depth.

Viet Nam wishes to further strengthen cooperation with France in scientific research and technological development. According to the Minister, the two sides can promote joint research directions, build joint laboratories, and create an environment for scientists from both countries to develop technology together and solve practical problems.

The Minister noted that the upcoming visit to France by General Secretary and President To Lam will serve as an important opportunity for the two countries to open up new avenues of cooperation. This is particularly relevant in areas of Viet Nam's interest, such as space technology, nuclear energy, and advanced technologies.

Ambassador Olivier Brochet affirmed that science, technology, research, and higher education remain priority pillars in the Viet Nam - France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
