Viet Nam and Russia promote cooperation in strategic technology research
<p>Viet Nam-Russia scientific and technological cooperation is heading toward specific research tasks tied to strategic technology development, workforce training, and technology transfer.</p>

At the meeting, Minister Vu Hai Quan stated that Russia is one of Viet Nam's most reliable partners in the fields of science, technology, and education and training.
According to the Minister, building upon traditional cooperative ties, the two countries need to further expand connections among research institutes, universities, and enterprises, turning cooperative orientations into practical, applicable research tasks. This cooperation foundation is being materialized through scientific and technological networking programs.
The Minister noted that the recent Viet Nam-Russia Technology Networking Forum in Moscow, Russia, provided an opportunity to connect universities, research institutes, and technology enterprises of both countries. Attractively drawing over 400 delegates - including about 300 delegates from Russian research institutions, organizations, and enterprises - the forum has opened up prospects for research, development, and technology transfer cooperation.

During the working session, one of the notable areas of cooperation put forward was the research and development of high-performance battery technology and new materials.
In response to the Russian side's proposals regarding battery technology, energy systems, and materials serving modern industry, Minister Vu Hai Quan affirmed that this is one of Viet Nam's major orientations for the coming period.
The Minister proposed that scientists from both countries soon connect and coordinate to formulate joint research tasks on high-performance battery production, aiming to exchange proposals at the bilateral scientific and technological cooperation session scheduled for late November 2026.
The two sides also continued to promote cooperation in high-potential areas such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, and atomic energy.
Minister Vu Hai Quan stated that regarding the AI cooperation initiative proposed by the Russian side, the Ministry of Science and Technology will report to competent authorities to consider subsequent implementation steps, moving toward the formation of specific cooperative projects.

Alongside these contents, human resource training was also identified as a crucial factor ensuring the sustainability of bilateral cooperation.
The two parties exchanged views on programs for gifted students, creating opportunities for them to participate in research projects and international science and technology competitions.
Minister Vu Hai Quan affirmed that Russia is the most reliable partner in education and training - a trust built and consolidated over decades. He requested the Advisor to the Russian President and Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam to support such collaborative efforts.
On the Russian side, Presidential Advisor Valery Alexandrovich Fadeev affirmed that Russia highly values cooperation with Viet Nam in science, technology, and education and training, and stands ready to support collaborative projects between the two nations.
From joint research programs, initiatives to develop high-performance battery technology, and artificial intelligence cooperation to the training of a new generation of young scientists, Viet Nam-Russia scientific and technological cooperation is expanding from traditional fields into technologies of strategic significance.
